Criminal Lunatics
(Bethlem Hospital and County Asylums, 1799-1843)
The original is a very interesting book which reads from both ends. At the front is the register of Bethlem Hospital with case histories for many patients. At the other end is a list of Criminal Lunatics from around the country who were held in County institutions or occasionally who were released into the custody of individuals. With 614 names, the information gives the places of origin of inmates and details of their offences where recorded.
